4. Urban Meyer, Jacksonville Jaguars head coach

Meyer may stretch the definition of realistic for Florida State, but stick with me. Before he even coached his first regular season game for the Jacksonville Jaguars, he made a controversial hire to his staff he had to pivot away from, brought in Tim Tebow as a tight end and if it even needed to be specified there’s reported turmoil within.

Let’s leave the health concerns that led to him quitting coaching twice aside. Questions about how long Meyer will last coaching the Jaguars if a turnaround didn’t come quickly have been easy from the moment he was hired. He is simply not used to losing, even if it comes with a difficult personal adjustment from coaching in college to coaching in the pros. A 4-13 mark (hypothetically) in his first season in Jacksonville won’t look very good, to say nothing about the ongoing questions about his ability to coach in the NFL.

Quite simply, Meyer is a college football coach in the ‘guise of an NFL head coach right now. Shy of winning multiple Super Bowls, his success at Florida and Ohio State will be what people remember him for when he finally quits coaching for good.

Florida State’s search to replace Norvell, if it happens, has to include Meyer.
