1. Jared Goff

Last but not least, we of course have to bring up the play of Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff. While he almost helped the Lions pull off an insane comeback against the San Francisco 49ers, his terrible play early on proved to haunt the team in the 41-33 loss.

Goff was horrendous in the first half. He has absolutely no mobility and San Francisco’s front seven made him look flustered with consistency. The defensive line forced Goff into some rough throws, none worse than his pick-six courtesy of Dre Greenlaw.

If you’re a Lions fan, you’ve simply got to be shaking your head after watching that replay. Goff tried threading the needle, throwing into triple coverage. You can’t make that kind of a mistake, especially against a defense like San Francisco’s.

Los Angeles Rams fans were so used to seeing that kind of erratic play from Goff in recent years, which is why they’re surely jacked up that Matthew Stafford is now running the offense for the NFC West side. For the Lions, though, Week 1’s first half was a reminder of how up-and-down Goff can be.
