3. ACC

After a pretty terrible first week of the season, the ACC stayed away from the headlines in Week 2. Well, except Florida State. After going toe-to-toe with Notre Dame, the Seminoles named McKenzie Milton starting quarterback. Then, they lost to Jacksonville State on a Hail Mary as time expired. It was a roller coaster of emotions for FSU fans, and their hope is dwindling already. Miami survived Appalachian State. This Hurricanes team might not be as good as they were projected to be. Virginia destroyed Illinois and Pitt took out Tennessee in non-conference battles. The ACC had quite the bounce back after Clemson’s opening loss really put a damper on the first week of the season.

2. Big Ten

Ohio State lost and they have an uphill climb to get back in the conversation for the College Football Playoff. That is bad for the Big Ten, but there were a lot of positives to take from this week. Iowa’s defense made the explosive Iowa State offense look lost. They might be legitimately good and is now in the top five of the Top 25 rankings this week. Michigan continues to look solid with an impressive win over Washington. The other 10 teams on the schedule this week all won.

1. SEC

What a great week for the SEC. While the other conferences are cannibalizing themselves, the top teams in this conference are sitting pretty. Texas A&M faced a scare against Colorado, and Tennessee ended up losing, but the other teams had pretty healthy wins. Georgia came off their upset of Clemson by destroying UAB. Alabama left no doubt against Mercer. Florida’s Anthony Richardson threw three passes against USF and averaged more than 50 yards per completion. They have a little bit of a quarterback controversy with him and Emory Jones. The Razorbacks join the ranked teams for the first time since 2016 after beating Texas pretty handily.
