2. Top fantasy football pickups for Week 2 – Cardinals WR Christian Kirk

The Arizona Cardinals made a big splash by signing A.J. Green in free agency but the second wide receiver in Arizona’s dominant Week 1 performance against Tennessee was fourth-year man Christian Kirk. Quarterback Kyler Murray looked Kirk’s way five times in Nashville and Kirk caught all five of his targets, including two touchdowns.

The spikes are a bit of a surprise for Kirk, who recorded just six scores in the entire 2020 season, but his connection with Murray has always been solid. Kirk did some nifty work on his scores, including an 11-yard touchdown where he beat Titans’ safety Kevin Byard one-on-one to get open in the end zone.

Green did next to nothing with his six targets, securing just two catches for 25 yards, offering little assurance to fantasy owners that he has anything left after being a star for years in Cincinnati. Rookie Rondale Moore was also involved, catching 4-of-5 targets for 68 yards, but there will be plenty of passes to go around in Kliff Kingsbury’s offense.

Kirk is rostered in just 13 percent of Yahoo leagues but could be a valuable waiver pickup as a WR3/flex option in deeper leagues. Getting a stake in the Arizona offense is a fantastic idea with Murray poised to take off this season.
