Los Angeles Rams’ Head Coach Sean McVay and quarterback Matthew Stafford are meshing well together after a 34-14 victory over the Chicago Bears on Sunday night.

One week into the 2021 NFL season and there’s one thing that’s clear — Los Angeles Rams’ Sean McVay and Matthew Stafford are happy again.

After cruising to a 34-14 over win over the Chicago Bears, the Rams appear a Super Bowl contender for the second time in four seasons. It may feel like the 2018 season again, but there’s one major difference. The leader of Los Angeles’ offense isn’t Jared Goff anymore.

How does McVay feel about that? I’d say pretty good.

Los Angeles Rams acquiring Stafford in January is what Sean McVay needed

On Stafford’s second pass as a Ram, he launched a 67-yard dart to wide receiver Van Jefferson. After suffering in Detroit’s malaise for more than a decade, the veteran finished with 321 yards and three touchdowns. The long-awaited buildup to the hype surrounding the head coach-quarterback duo didn’t disappoint and there’s still a lot of potential to be reached.

It’s been nearly eight months since the NFL world erupted whenever Stafford was traded to Los Angeles and Jared Goff was sent packing to Detroit.

You don’t need to be a Los Angeles fan to know there was tension between McVay and Goff, so the trade confirmed the writing on the wall. While it can be hard to part ways, it seems as if Goff was just as relieved to be leaving the West Coast as Stafford was to be moving to it.

It’s fitting that the night was capped off with McVay giving the game ball to Stafford.

Next. NBC has no idea what Kelly Stafford looks like. dark
