Watch: Stephen A. Smith eviscerated ‘shameful’ Aaron Rodgers on First Take
By John Buhler
Stephen A. Smith went scorched earth armageddon with this vicious Aaron Rodgers takedown.
ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith was in rare form on Monday morning, as he absolutely brutalized Aaron Rodgers for his “shameful” Week 1 performance for the Green Bay Packers vs. the New Orleans Saints.
While there were several other teams that looked like dog crap on Sunday, nobody deserves more ridicule than the Packers. Green Bay had the No. 1 seed in the NFC a year ago, but managed only three points against a Saints team that was forced to play a home game in Jacksonville due to the aftermath of Hurricane Ida. Jameis Winston only threw five more touchdowns than Rodgers’ zero.
Smith also threw Packers head coach Matt LaFleur under the bus for not having his team ready.
Stephen A. Smith unleashed the fury on a savage Aaron Rodgers First Take-down
Yes, Smith actually went there. He said Rodgers did not look like he cared the least bit that the Packers were thoroughly getting their ass kicked by the Saints. Even though the Packers are still in a four-way tie for first place in the NFC North, that was one of those losses that will sting for a while. Rodgers played so poorly that eventually he got benched in favor of his backup Jordan Love.
While the Saints may be a quality team this year, we have to wonder if the Packers have what it takes to represent the NFC in Super Bowl 56. Other NFC contenders such as Los Angeles, Seattle and Tampa Bay looked strong in their Week 1 openers. For now, the Packers need to go back to the drawing board and figure out what the hell went wrong down in Jacksonville vs. New Orleans.
If this abysmal performance is not a wakeup call for the Packers, this could be a rough season.
