4. The Saints defense has three interceptions

In Week 1, the Saints’ secondary blanketed the Packers’ wide receivers, and Aaron Rodgers threw for a total of only 133 yards. In addition, Rodgers threw two interceptions. It marked the second time that Rodgers threw multiple interceptions in a regular season game, since 2018.

After facing one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL history, the Saints will have an easier matchup against Panthers’ quarterback Sam Darnold. Darnold was solid against the Jets in Week 1 with 279 passing yards, one passing touchdown, and one rushing touchdown. He did, however, have a critical fumble in the red zone.

Historically, Darnold has been turnover-prone. In three season with the Jets, he threw 39 interceptions in 38 games. If the Saints’ defense could create turnovers against Rodgers, they certainly should be able to against Darnold.

Last season, the Saints were able to shut down the Panthers’ passing game in their Week 17 matchup. With Teddy Bridgewater and P.J. Walker at quarterback, the Panthers had a combined quarterback rating of 33.6 and threw five total interceptions.

Cornerback Marshon Lattimore underwent thumb surgery. He will likely miss this week’s game. So, Paulson Adebo and P.J. Williams should take on larger roles. Adebo had an interception against the Packers on Sunday, while Williams had an interception against the Panthers in Week 17.
