2. The Lions defense is really vulnerable

The 49ers lit Detroit’s defense up for 41 points and things could get even worse for the Lions this week. Losing starting cornerback Jeff Okudah isn’t going to help them cope with Green Bay’s receiving corps.

Okudah’s absence will likely force third-round pick Ifeatu Melifonwu onto the field as a starter. He’s not ready to compete with guys like Davante Adams or even Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Rodgers is going to pick on him early and often.

Detroit will hope they can take advantage of Green Bay’s offensive line, but the Packers’ unit should improve with one game under their collective belts. Detroit’s lack of a top-tier edge rusher (Trey Flowers does not qualify) is really going to cause them problems against Rodgers in a game where he’s motivated to silence the doubters.

Green Bay might not put 41 points up against Detroit like San Francisco did last week, but they’ll score as many points as they need to win comfortably. The Lions’ defense is in for a long season and Week 2 might be one of their worst Sundays.
