In a newly-released Tampa Bay Buccaneers video, 44-year-old quarterback Tom Brady reveals that he could potentially play until he’s 50 years old.

In the Tampa Bay Buccaneers web series “Tommy & Gronky”, Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and tight end Rob Gronkowski sit kiddie poolside as they answer some of the Internet’s most burning questions.

In this week’s episode, Brady and Gronkowski asked each other the most Googled questions about their fellow teammate. For Brady, the most-asked question on the Internet is this: Can Tom Brady play until 50 years old?

Tom Brady responds: “I think it’s a yes” on being able to play until 50

“Wow… seems to be a really hot question lately,” Brady laughed when Gronkowski posed the question.

“I think…I mean, I don’t find it so difficult. And plus, in Florida, it’s kind of a retiree state, so I feel like I could play and then just glide into retirement. I think I can, I think it’s a yes.”

The important distinction here is that Brady said he can play until 50 years old, not that he will play for another six years. As Brady fans are well-aware, the strain of being the NFL’s leading quarterback is something that wife Gisele Bundchen has been ready to retire for years.

What more do you have to prove?” Bundchen asked her husband following his seventh Super Bowl win this February.

A close friend of Brady and his wife, Gronkowski agreed that this is the main factor in whether Brady suits up for another six seasons.

“I think it’s, ‘Will Gisele let Tom play until 50?’ That’s the real question!” Gronkowski joked as Brady laughed.

“That’s a way better question, why would they not Google that?” Brady asked. “I think they should.”

All jokes aside, Brady seems content with reaching his 45-year milestone next season as a Buccaneer. Even for the man who preaches pliability, playing until 50 feels like a bit of a stretch.

“50? That’s a long time. Even for me, that’s a long time,” Brady told USA Today’s Jori Epstein this June. “I’ve always said 45 was the age that I wanted to reach, and that was my goal.”
