Browns’ Jarvis Landry will miss time with sprained MCL

Cleveland Browns Wide Receiver Jarvis Landry is out for a couple weeks following an MCL injury.
The Cleveland Browns will be without wide receiver Jarvis Landry for at least as few weeks after he was injured in the opening drive of Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans. Landry was hurt when a helmet contacted his knee during a routine tackle, but was able to walk off the field on his own.
According to Ian Rapoport, the injury sustained is minor and Landry shouldn’t miss more than three weeks.
Head coach Kevin Stefanski confirms Jarvis Landry will miss time for the Cleveland Browns
Even minimum time without Landry is a huge blow to the Browns offense as receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is week-to-week and has yet to play this season as he recovers from ACL surgery. Landry’s replacement on Sunday was Rashard Higgins who had just two receptions for 27 yards in the 31-21 win over the Houston Texans.
Though the Browns have a few options to fill in at the position in Week 3, they’re going to need Landry to recover quickly if quarterback Baker Mayfield wants to have success through the air this season.
Looking ahead, the next two opponents for the browns are the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings. Luckily for the Browns, both NFC North teams have beatable secondaries that shouldn’t pose any major challenge for Cleveland even without their best receivers.
If they can get Landry (and ideally Beckham Jr.) back before Week 5 against the Chargers, they should be in pretty good shape.
