4. RB Austin Ekeler vs. the Kansas City Chiefs

For the Chiefs fans readers: you know what I mean when I say that this defense is looking like the Bob Sutton-era defense we saw from 2018 and earlier. In a year where Patrick Mahomes had to throw for 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns, they had a bottom-10 defense in the league. It appears headed that way again in 2021.

This is great news for Chargers’ running back Austin Ekeler, who makes a living playing against soft defenses who focus too much on stopping the pass. He’s in an obviously great matchup this week in what will be a high-octane offensive game for both sides.

Ekeler is one of the top running back plays this week, because even if the game goes sideways for the Chargers, he still is heavily involved in the passing game.

I like Ekeler as a rock-solid RB2 this week, with upside for more in PPR leagues. This is going to be a competitive game throughout, and with no other Chargers running back competing with Ekeler for snaps, he’s going to get heavy volume.
