5 bold predictions for Packers against 49ers
2. Aaron Rodgers will throw 50+ passes
Packer’s head coach Matt LaFleur prides himself on establishing the run game as a precursor to everything Green Bay wants to do on offense. That philosophy isn’t going to work against the 49ers’ rugged front seven in this game.
The end result will be Green Bay being reluctantly forced to lean on Aaron Rodgers to move the ball with his arm. The Packers might try to force the run game during the first quarter, but LaFleur and his staff will quickly realize that’s a poor way to keep this game close.
In quarters 2-4 Packers fans should expect to see Rodgers slinging the ball all over the field as he did during his younger days. It will be interesting to see whether or not he still has the special arm talent required to keep his team in a game where they might be overmatched in terms of roster talent.
The end result will see Rodgers throw at least 50 passes while comfortably cruising past the 300-yard passing plateau. The biggest stat to watch for Rodgers on the night will be his interceptions total. He can’t afford to turn the ball over if Green Bay is going to up their record to 2-1.
