2. NFL Teams that should be on upset alert in Week 3 – San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers are 2-0 to start the season but their results have been far from encouraging. A 38-10 lead in Week 1 nearly evaporated as San Francisco let Detroit claw all the way back to turn a laugher into a 41-33 loss while Week 2 saw the 49ers struggle on the road against the Eagles.

Injuries have also started to wreak havoc on the 49ers again, particularly at the running back position. Three different San Francisco running backs left last week’s game with injuries, leaving a hampered Elijah Mitchell and recent free-agent pickup Trenton Cannon as the only backs left by the end of the game.

No one will complain about road wins and the books believe in the 49ers, establishing them as 3.5 point favorites on Sunday night against the Green Bay Packers in their first home game of the year. That line looked pretty good for a half on Monday night before the Packers woke up and buried the Lions, flipping a switch to recapture their dominant 2020 mojo.

The 49ers have done well against Green Bay at home in recent years but this looks like a dangerous matchup in a revenge scenario for the Packers. A banged-up team like San Francisco could easily get picked off here.
