Week 4 College Football Picks Against the Spread: No. 10-6

Akron at 10 Ohio State (-48.5) – Over 67.0

I hate everything about picking this game as well. Ohio State will be starting Kyle McCord to let C.J. Stroud rest his ailing shoulder. But I still have faith in the Buckeyes utilizing elite wide receiver talent and breakout freshman TreVeyon Henderson to score a ton of points. The over is easy, though, because, even if Akron is awful (they are), the Buckeyes defense hasn’t stopped anyone this year. Let’s just hope their talent shines through enough to keep the Zips from getting within 48.5.

9 Clemson at NC State (+10.0) – Under 47.5

Even with Tyler Davis out for Clemson, the Tigers have the defensive depth and overall talent to slow down NC State. At the same time, we just saw D.J. Uiagalelei and the Clemson offensive line struggle to contend with Georgia Tech and the Wolfpack present a far greater challenge on defense than the Jackets. In Raleigh, 10 points is too high for this line as this game should be a defensive struggle that could be decided by one explosive play, whoever makes it.

Villanova at 6 Penn State – No Line

With a Penn State team coming off of a huge win over Auburn that vaulted them firmly inside the top 10, it’s no wonder that the oddsmakers aren’t giving us a line for them playing an FCS team, even if the game is a pseudo-in-state rivalry. The Nittany Lions are going to win and there shouldn’t be any doubt about that. With that said, if a line does come out, I might look at Villanova as Penn State might be trying to rest a bit before continuing Big Ten play starting next week.
