10 QB sleepers to target for fantasy football NFL 2021 Week 3
By Brad Weiss
2. Mac Jones vs. New Orleans Saints
In Week 1, the New Orleans Saints shocked the world, beating down the Green Bay Packers in a dominant effort on both sides of the ball. In Week 2, they came back down to earth, as Sam Darnold and the Carolina Panthers went up and down the field on them.
I am not saying that the New England Patriots are going to do what Carolina did to New Orleans, but Mac Jones should be in for a good day. He has yet to force the ball down the field this season, but against this Saints secondary, he may try a few deep shots.
Jones is good at protecting the ball and making the right read, and he is going to have time to throw against this Saints pass rush. He may even get some yardage on the ground against New Orleans, making him an interesting play, especially in two-deep quarterback leagues.
1. Joe Burrow vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Sure, it is a division game, and yes, the Pittsburgh Steelers normally have a stout defense, but last week we saw them beat time and time again by Derek Carr and the Raiders passing attack. In fact, Carr was able to beat them underneath, and deep, which is cause for concern if you are a Steelers fan.
In this one, star edge rusher T.J. Watt will likely be out, which means more time for Joe Burrow to dial up some plays deep to his wide assortment of wide receivers. You can expect him to target his No. 1 guy, Ja’Marr Chase, early and often against Pittsburgh, and he should be able to rack up the yardage.
Carr threw for nearly 400 yards last week behind a makeshift line, so the fact that Cincinnati struggles up front should not be an excuse. Pittsburgh will be looking to bounce back, and are home, but Burrow should have good fantasy value in this one.
