Boston Red Sox fans let Kyle Schwarber have it for letting a pop-up land on the infield, and he probably had it coming.

If you let Schwarber play first base long enough, something like this was bound to happen. The Sox knew this when they acquired him from the Washington Nationals, and they sure as hell didn’t trade for him because of his defensive ability.

Mega-yikes. Schwarber overplayed the pop fly, and let it drop right behind him. Red Sox fans weren’t having any of it, and let the team know their thoughts.

Schwarber’s playoff experience more than makes up for a flop in the infield every now and then. His run with the 2016 Cubs is the stuff of legend.

Boston Red Sox off to rough start against Yankees

Boston entered the night with a magic number of seven, but they’re at risk of letting the Yankees right back into the race of the top Wild Card spot. The Red Sox are in a three-way race with the Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays for the AL Wild Card.

As of now, they’re slotted to host that game, assuming they don’t mess things up down the stretch.
