College football rankings: Projected Week 5 AP Top 25 after Clemson, Texas A&M highlight 6 ranked teams to lose
Projected AP Top 25 College Football Rankings after Week 4: No. 12-11
12. Ole Miss Rebels
Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss poured it on a pretty good Tulane team last week as they put up 60+ points before taking the starters out and stalling from there. But the Rebels needed one final tuneup as they had an off week on Saturday to prepare for an absolutely monstrous matchup in one week as they travel to Tuscaloosa.
Alabama has proven they are great but not invulnerable. Meanwhile, the Rebels have more than proven that Matt Corral leading this offensive laden with talent has them as one of the most explosive teams in college football. Having said that, we haven’t seen Ole Miss face a true test yet and we’ll finally get that chance in Week 5.
11. Florida Gators
Particularly with Dan Mullen’s team coming off the narrow loss to Alabama last week, there was the worry of a Florida letdown on Saturday against Tennessee and it looked like that might actually be the case early on as the Vols had a 14-10 lead early in the second quarter. The Gators, however, scored 28 unanswered points from that moment forward.
Emory Jones has found something in the past two weeks as he threw for 209 yards with two touchdowns but also rushed for 144 yards to lead Florida as a team against Tennessee. The massive matchup with Georgia is still looming large in just a few weeks but they appear to be figuring things out on the fly and the results are promising.
