Pat Freiermuth will continue to be a focal point

The Heath Miller comparisons to Freiermuth have been made since the Steelers drafted him in April. Already, he’s living up to those comparisons by quickly becoming the offense’s safety valve.

The rookie out of Penn State had three catches in Week 3, including his first touchdown against the Bengals. Freiermuth has also been the team’s best run blocker in the rare case of a run gaining a good chunk of yards.

Freiermuth is already the best tight end on the Steelers roster. Eric Ebron has more drops than catches this year, and he is quickly becoming a smaller part of the offense with each passing week.

The only other tight end on the active roster is Zach Gentry, who mainly plays special teams and in heavy sets on offense.

The lack of production from the other tight ends has opened up opportunities for Freiermuth, and he has taken advantage of them so far, becoming one of the lone bright spots in the Steelers offense.

When plays inevitably break down for Pittsburgh, Roethlisberger will look toward his young tight end more and more. His production will continue to go up this week.
