When will Richard Sherman make his Buccaneers debut?

Free agent cornerback Richard Sherman has officially signed with Tampa Bay. 

He’s back in action–almost. Former Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman announced his signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers early Wednesday morning. The one-year deal came after a workout with the Buccaneers team on Tuesday.

Once known for mocking Tom Brady when the Seahawks beat the Patriots years ago, Sherman will now join the league’s top-ranked quarterback as Tampa Bay set its sights on another Super Bowl ring.

The five-time Pro Bowl cornerback announced full details of his signing on the latest episode of his podcast and hinted that he’s been able to stay in shape, but likely needs some time before making his debut as a Buccaneer.

How soon will Richard Sherman be ready to play for Tampa Bay?

Looking ahead at Tampa Bay’s schedule, it’s doubtful that Sherman will be ready to play in Week 4 against New England.

If he’s ready to go in Week 5, he’ll face the Miami Dolphins in Tampa Bay. A Week 6 debut would put him in a Thursday night battle against the Philadelphia Eagles.

His first appearance can’t come soon enough for Tampa Bay. The 2-1 Buccaneers banged-up secondary has been a sore spot for the team.

They’ve allowed the most completions of any teams so far this season so Sherman’s veteran experience and 36 career interceptions will be a welcome addition whenever he is ready to
