While plenty of excitement surrounded the New York Mets this season, the year ended in disappointment and some major changes are expected this offseason.

It wasn’t supposed to end this way for the New York Mets. With the team making so many moves last offseason and even being in first place of the NL East standings earlier this campaign, folks expected the team from Queens to make some noise in the postseason. That won’t be happening.

New York totally flopped in the second half of the campaign and they’ll be watching the playoffs from home. Looking ahead to the future, the fanbase will need to prepare it self for some big-time changes on the roster as well.

Mets fans need to prepare themselves for major changes coming next year

According to Andy Martino of SNY, his sources are telling him that the team is preparing for major turnover for 2022. It’s really up in the air what will be happening with multiple stars, including starting hurler Marcus Stroman. Plus, no one knows what the future has in store for guys like Noah Syndergaard, Michael Conforto, Jeff McNeil, Dominic Smith and others.

With Syndergaard, he underwent Tommy John Surgery and missed the entire 2020 season. Earlier this week, he made a start against the Miami Marlins, his first showing since the 2019 campaign. It was obviously great to see, as he worked tirelessly to get himself back on the bump.

Having said that, Syndergaard is about to enter free agency himself. While he’s said he’s hopeful about a return to the Mets, we could end up seeing him leave town too. Some tough decisions surely are on the way for the front office. Mets fans need to prepare themselves for the big changes that could indeed be on the way.
