6. Zach Ertz, Philadelphia Eagles

Rostered: 16.5%

After an underwhelming first two games, Zach Ertz had a breakout performance against the Dallas Cowboys. He had four receptions for 57 yards and a touchdown, but the biggest positive was Ertz’s seven targets, which exceeded Dallas Goedert’s four targets.

Ertz was an elite fantasy tight end not long ago. He was a top-five fantasy tight end in 2019. Due to the presence of Dallas Goedert, he likely will not have the role to meet those heights again. Still, he has the talent to make him a great matchup play.

The Philadelphia Eagles should be playing from behind this week against the Kansas City Chiefs, so Jalen Hurts should be throwing the ball a lot. Ertz is a boom-or-bust streaming option.

5. Jordan Akins, Houston Texans

Rostered: 0.6%

The Texans’ tight end situation has continued to be unpredictable for fantasy owners.

Entering the season, rookie Brevin Jordan seemed like a potential fantasy sleeper, as a young player with upside on a rebuilding team. Meanwhile, veteran Jordan Akins was the safest option.

In Week 1, Pharaoh Brown broke out with five receptions for 67 receiving yards, while Akins did not record a catch. However, Brown has scored zero fantasy points, since then. Jordan has not been in the mix at all, as he has not played a single snap.

Last week, quarterback Davis Mills started his first game, and he had strong chemistry with Akins. Akins was targeted five times, and he finished with four receptions for 32 yards.

For now, Akins seems to be the clear number one tight end in Houston, and he could emerge as Mills’s second favorite target behind Brandon Cooks.
