1. Eric Bieniemy, Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator

The Chiefs’ long recent playoff runs have surely hurt his candidacy for head coaching jobs, as the NFL sticks with antiquated interviewing rules. Bieniemy has surfaced as a candidate for the job opening at USC, which he was of course quick to dismiss.

Bieniemy will again be an easy candidate for any NFL head coaching opening looking to 2022. There are ideas out there suggesting the media thinks more highly of him then the league actually does as a head coaching candidate, which may explain why he hasn’t gotten a job yet. The history of Andy Reid disciples as head coaches/offensive minds (Brad Childress, Matt Nagy, Doug Pederson to some extent) is also not a great point in his corner.

But any team who is looking to cultivate a young quarterback, or take an underachieving young quarterback to a higher level, will have interest in making Bieniemy their next head coach when the 2021 season starts to wind down and “Black Monday” looms. The Jaguars are heading toward being on that list. Maybe they can take advantage of a mulligan and make the hire they should have made in January, instead of being swayed by the shiny object Meyer was.
