Projected AP Top 25 college football rankings after Week 5: No. 14-13

14. Oklahoma State Cowboys

There’s not much about Oklahoma State that’s been pretty through the first five weeks of the season. All of the questions about quarterback Spencer Sanders still remain and, in fact, the questions might even be more prevalent now. Moreover, the run game is good but not great. Yet, all the Cowboys do is keep winning games.

Welcoming Baylor to Stillwater on Saturday, the Cowboys pulled up with a strong effort in a 24-14 victory. While Sanders continued to be a worry for this team moving forward, the Oklahoma State defense is legit and put the clamps on the Bears in a major way. Especially with some of the offenses playing as they are in the Big 12, don’t sleep on Mike Gundy’s team this season.

13. Arkansas Razorbacks

Considering that Arkansas vaulted up the rankings have wins over Texas and Texas A&M, it’s hard to knock them too heavily for their performance against Georgia. To be sure, the Razorbacks weren’t even close in Athens. In every phase of the game, the Dawgs had their numbers and gave them the business.

Having said that, the win over the Longhorns looks more impressive by the day and, though you hate to make excuses, if KJ Jefferson was at 100 percent, the Hogs might’ve at least given a whimper against Georgia on Saturday. This is still a team that looks capable of giving any team in the SEC a good game, which is why we’re not going to knock them too much after the loss.
