The Tennessee Titans lost to the New York Jets. If that’s not a statement that should have Mike Vrabel feeling some temperature on his seat then who knows what is.

You just can’t lose to the Jets. You certainly can’t do it like the Titans did, playing sloppy football.

Tennessee had eight penalties for 98 yards. They went 2-of-5 in the red zone, dominating possession but having nothing to show for it. The Jets sacked Ryan Tannehill seven times.

Simply going to overtime against New York would have been embarrassing. Actually losing to them is unacceptable for a team hoping to contend for the AFC. The Titans were six-point favorites, despite being on the road.

Vrabel has to own this loss. He has to own a season-opening blowout to the Cardinals as well.

The 2-2 start to 2021 isn’t the end of the world. Tennessee will have plenty of opportunities to bounce back. They’re still in the driver’s seat in the AFC South. Vrabel and company should beware. If you can lose to the Jets, you can lose to the Jaguars and that game could actually matter in the division.
