1. Mason Rudolph

This is perhaps the easiest decision for the Steelers to make. If they do not feel like signing a free agent or trading for a quarterback, they could always look for help in-house. That means Roethlisberger’s primary backup Mason Rudolph could receive the first crack to replace him this year.

Rudolph did receive a shot at succeeding Roethlisberger after he was lost early in the season due to an elbow injury. His first season starting was a mixed bag, as he was part of a carousel with fellow backup Devlin Hodges and suffered a year-ending shoulder injury in Week 16.

Through 10 games in 2019, Rudolph completed 62.2-percent of his passes for 1,765 yards, 13 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

If the Steelers want to make the move to send Roethlisberger to the bench, the easiest option for them is to give the former 2018 third-round pick out of Oklahoma State a shot. It never hurts to see what Rudolph can do for a game. Who knows, maybe he could help Pittsburgh’s offense put points on the board. Anything is possible.
