5 biggest NFL disappointments through Week 4
By Jakob Ashlin
Minnesota Vikings
Overall, the Minnesota Vikings have played much better than the other four teams on this list.
Quarterback Kirk Cousins has been great with nine passing touchdowns and only one interception. As expected, wide receiver Justin Jefferson has continued to play at an elite level with 26 receptions for 338 yards and three touchdowns in four games. Jefferson is also PFF’s fifth-highest graded wide receiver this season.
So, why are the Vikings 1-3? They have suffered close losses to good teams. They lost by three points in overtime to the 3-1 Bengals. They lost by one point to the 4-0 Cardinals. Finally, they lost by seven points to the 3-1 Browns.
None of the Vikings’ losses stand out as awful. Additionally, their thirteen-point victory over the Seahawks is impressive.
A 1-3 start is always disappointing, but the Vikings have played good football. However, they will need to win some difficult games in the regular season to make the playoffs. They will have a favorable matchup against the Detroit Lions this Sunday, but then, they will have a difficult five-game stretch with games against the Carolina Panthers, Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Chargers, and Green Bay Packers.
