3 cornerbacks Buccaneers need to trade for at the deadline
During Bill O’Brien’s destructive reign as Texans GM, he engaged in some of the most lopsided trades of recent NFL history. Most notably, O’Brien can be credited with gifting the Miami Dolphins Noah Igbinoghene.
The 30th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft came directly from the Texans’ 2019 trade for Laremy Tunsil. Despite the fruitful grift, the Dolphins have done little with their recent first-round steal.
Teams are often reluctant to move off of first round picks, but it seems the Dolphins have little use for Igbinoghene. He currently sits third on the depth chart in the left cornerback slot behind Xavien Howard and Elijah Campbell.
Igbinoghene isn’t injured, and there’s nothing outwardly wrong with him — he just doesn’t fit into the Dolphins’ plans at the moment. After two game starts in 2020, Igbinoghene hasn’t started yet in 2021. He played 15 special teams snaps in Week 3, but that’s not enough to justify a roster spot that could be worth more from a Buccaneers trade.
While Igbinoghene has a positive outlook on his lacking playing time, the Bucs could swoop in and trade for him to replenish their depleted roster. Igbinoghene may not see time as a Dolphin, but he would be ready to start as a Buccaneer. Like Leonard Fournette, Igbinoghene could be saved from an awkward situation in Miami for chance to shine as a starter in Tampa Bay.
