The Los Angeles Dodgers shared some important news about two of their injured stars. Neither Clayton Kershaw nor Max Muncy need surgery for their injuries.

Things have been a bit nerve-wracking for the Los Angeles Dodgers over the past couple days given that two of their biggest stars are dealing with some scary injuries. But, according to Los Angeles’ manager Dave Roberts, Dodgers fans might have some reasons to be hopeful.

According to Roberts, Clayton Kershaw doesn’t need to have Tommy John surgery right now. That’s huge news for the Dodgers’ star pitcher.

Kershaw’s injury is heartbreaking and it initially appeared as if he might miss some significant time. But, since he apparently doesn’t need surgery and his ligament is reportedly “sound.” Kershaw won’t pitch this postseason.

That said, it looks like Los Angeles may have to go a little while without a pretty important hitter as Max Muncy is still recovering right now.

As for Muncy, Roberts said he’s holding onto a “glimmer of hope” about an eventual return for the power hitting first baseman.

According to another tweet from Gonzalez, Roberts mentioned that Muncy doesn’t need surgery because there’s no UCL tear, but he didn’t provide an exact timetable for the Dodgers’ first baseman to get back to 100 percent.

Muncy, who was injured during an awkward collision a couple days ago, leads his team in home runs with 36 through the regular season. Still, Los Angeles could be without him for a little while as he’s still recovering.

Roberts mentioned that Muncy has been able to recover quickly with other injuries, but it’s not totally clear as to when he might be able get back to playing. While Los Angeles is still loaded, it’ll hurt to not have Muncy on the field.
