2. J.A. Happ

One guy who the Cardinals must try and bring back is no question J.A. Happ. After starting off the campaign with the Minnesota Twins, the talented left-handed pitcher made his way to the NL Central and really impressed whenever taking the bump for Mike Shildt.

While donning a St. Louis uniform this season, Happ turned heads. In 2021 for the Cards, the veteran went 5-2, though his 4.00 ERA was a bit concerning. Having said that, he came up big for the team when his number was called.

With Happ, he’s not going to be an over-the-top expensive option either. Is it ever a bad thing to have a veteran lefty come out and toss for you every 4-5 games? Absolutely not. St. Louis could try and bring him back to town for an affordable one-year deal.

If Happ is serious about potentially winning another World Series before he ends up hanging up his cleats, St. Louis may be the spot for him to do so.
