3.  Fletcher Cox gets a sack on Sam Darnold

Fletcher Cox is an Eagles legend for a reason: the veteran defensive tackles has given 10 years to the Eagles, not to mention countless turnovers and sacks.

But his production appears to have dipped in 2021 — at least on the surface, that is. Cox’s reputation precedes him in matchups, and battling double teams has noticeably hampered his ability to get at the quarterback.

In four games, Cox has logged five tackles and a fumble recovery for a touchdown — and that’s it. As Philadelphia’s highest-paid player, Cox is expected to be more of a game-changer than he has been on defense.

Eagles defensive coordinator Johnathan Gannon insists he’s not worried about Cox’s early production this season, but the Panthers game could provide the perfect opportunity for a resounding comeback.

While Javon Hargrave is the one on the line with the real production this year — including securing the strip sack that Cox recovered for a touchdown — Cox is primed to break through and get his first sack of the season against Sam Darnold. If Cox is still what Gannon and his contract declare, then it’s only a matter of time until the All Pro is unleashed onto a quarterback.
