Projected AP Top 25 college football rankings after Week 6: No. 16-15

16. Arizona State Sun Devils

After beating up UCLA last week to earn an upset win and move into the Top 25 college football rankings, Arizona State was in a tricky spot. The Sun Devils welcomed a Stanford team, fresh off an upset of their own after they beat Oregon, to Tempe on a short week with a Friday night kick. To further tighten the stomachs of Sun Devils fans, David Shaw has traditionally had Herm Edwards’ number in the Pac-12 matchup.

That wasn’t the case on Friday, though, as ASU delivered a statement to move to 5-1 on the season. Jayden Daniels and Rachaad White, among others, had a field day in the rushing attack and the Sun Devils defense continued to come up with huge game-swinging plays. Now, it’s not at all far-fetched to think Arizona State could be considered favorites to win the Pac-12.

15. Kentucky Wildcats

Coming directly after Kentucky overcame a ton of bad history against Florida with a huge win last week, there were questions about if there would be a letdown game in Lexington as a hungry LSU team came to town. Well, the Tigers may have been hungry, but Mark Stoops’ team wasn’t about to let them get any breathing room in this game.

Behind one of quarterback Will Levis’ best games of the season and a strong showing from Chris Rodriguez Jr., the Wildcats earned an emphatic 42-21 win over LSU on Saturday. This is a huge victory to keep Big Blue undefeated at 6-0 and one that will start to make more believers out of people moving forward. Of course, playing Georgia next week will offer a lot of what we need to see from and know about the Wildcats.
