Spencer Rattler has been benched in favor of Caleb Williams and now the Oklahoma quarterback could be looking at the transfer portal.

Spencer Rattler began the season as the Heisman favorite and the potential No. 1 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He may not even be the Oklahoma starting quarterback entering Week 7.

Rattler was benched in the second quarter vs. Texas with the Sooners down in a big hole. His replacement, Caleb Williams, scored a 66-yard touchdown run on his first play.

With Lincoln Riley needing a spark on offense and Rattler having a rollercoaster season, he pulled the plug on him and there’s a chance Rattler could pull the plug on Oklahoma.

If Williams is going to be the starting quarterback next week, there is a strong chance Rattler enters the transfer portal and finishes his college career elsewhere.

Will Spencer Rattler enter the transfer portal and leave Oklahoma?

Rattler is draft-eligible and could just stay at Oklahoma, even in a backup role, and enter the draft anyway.

But entering the draft may not be the best decision for Rattler who has seen his once-high stock drop precipitously.

Rattler may not even be a first-round pick after his first six weeks and he may fall even more after losing his job.

What could be in his best interest is getting a fresh start at another university, with a different coaching staff and rehabbing his NFL Draft stock ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft.

The Arizona native could be a fit at Arizona State, Arizona, UCLA, Utah, Colorado in the Pac-12. Outside of the Pac-12, Miami, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Michigan State and Texas A&M are programs that offered the former No. 1 quarterback recruit out of high school.

Rattler will have plenty of options if he decided to transfer.
