Cardinals could trade away Harrison Bader

Bader might be the Cardinals’ most gifted pure defensive outfielder, making trading him a risk St. Louis would perhaps rather avoid. However, the sheer number of outfield options that emerged for the Cardinals late last season make him somewhat expendable.

If the Cardinals wanted to swing big yet again on the trade market, a player like Bader would fetch one heck of a return. Bader hit .267/.324/.460 with 16 home runs and 50 RBI, including .281/.331/.469 with 10 home runs and 34 RBI in the second half of the season. He’s a legitimate outfield option for the future if St. Louis would prefer him over their other options.

Trading Bader means the Cardinals’ are banking on Tyler O’Neill, Dylan Carlson and Lars Nootbar as their outfield trio for the future. By no means is that a bad thing, and could be worth it depending on the caliber of player the Cardinals receive back.
