College football rankings 2021: Projected Week 8 AP Top 25 after Iowa gets upset & Alabama, Georgia roll
Projected AP Top 25 college football rankings after Week 7: No. 18-17
18. SMU Mustangs
Undefeated SMU could move up a few spots in the rankings by virtue of being off. Talk about the gift that keeps on giving right? All the Mustangs had to do was enjoy some rest while the bottom of the top 25 shifted around like a room with uneven furniture. SMU’s specialty is in its ability to explode at a given moment.
They could certainly fall here in the near future with a game against Houston in the near future, but for now, they have cemented their place. If the Mustangs are able to take command of the AAC, they could very well be in the top 15 in the near future.
17. Texas A&M Aggies
The Aggies are rolling. A week after defeating top-ranked Alabama, Texas A&M wasn’t going to fall prey to a trap game on the road against Missouri. The Aggies handled business in a 35-14 win. Texas A&M jumped out to a 21-0 lead right away in the first and didn’t look back from there.
The game boasted two 100-yard rushers for the Aggies and they grinded away against the Tigers’ defense. Looking ahead, the Aggies have a golden opportunity to roll through the rest of their schedule, with Auburn and Ole Miss being the toughest opponents. The two losses earlier in the season likely dashed their shot at the playoff, but the Aggies can work their way into a nice bowl game if they can win out.
