Projected AP Top 25 college football rankings after Week 7: No. 16-15

16. Kentucky Wildcats

This should be the extent of the fall for Kentucky. The company of line of not knocking a team too hard for having to play the top-ranked team is at play here. Georgia is a wagon and it was Kentucky’s turn to get run over. Kentucky struggled to run the ball in the 30-13 loss.

Now, the Wildcats will have a chance to respond with a really winnable schedule the rest of the way. The toughest game remaining appears to be a battle against Tennessee. The Wildcats can be forgiven for getting clobbered by Georgia if they take care of business the rest of the way.

15. Wake Forest Demon Deacons

The Demon Deacons are another recipient of moving up by virtue of having the week off. Wake Forest is 6-0 on the season and is likely to keep climbing with some easy games the next couple of weeks. The moment of clarity comes after that for the Deacons.

A three-week stretch of UNC, NC State, and Clemson later in the year will ultimately decide what type of season Wake Forest is going to have. Any slip-ups before then and they can probably kiss the ranking goodbye. Right now, they’re firmly where they are.
