Projected AP Top 25 college football rankings after Week 7: No. 14-13

14. Coastal Carolina Chanticleers

Undefeated Coastal Carolina is also in the run of teams that benefits from the week off. There are always those weeks in the college football season where volatility seems to happen throughout every fold of the rankings and this is one of those weeks where it was probably best to be on the bye rather than playing.

The Chanticleers remain undefeated and have a big road game against Appalachian State upcoming on Wednesday. If they win that, they’re likely going undefeated the rest of the way. From there, it’s hard to see how high they can jump with some underwhelming opponents in the way.

13. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

After escaping Virginia Tech last week, the Fighting Irish were on the bye this week. They safely could rest up while watching the uncertainty of Week Seven unfold. Also, their loss to Cincinnati continues to look better as the Bearcats keep rolling.

Right now, it’s the only blemish on the schedule for the Fighting Irish. The 13th spot in the rankings seems appropriate for where things are at for Notre Dame. They’re on the outside looking in and have to be a bit more demonstrative in victory like they were against a struggling Wisconsin program.
