2. Lane Kiffin’s name is bound to be attached to LSU’s coaching search

There aren’t many more head coaches drawing the sort of buzz that Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin is. He’s in his second season in Oxford and has found a way to get the Rebels rolling, thanks largely to how his offense is operating.

The Rebels have been able to score with ease with Kiffin as the architect of their offense. His schemes have been able to turn Matt Corral into a legitimate Heisman candidate and put Ole Miss in a position to cause some chaos in the SEC this season.

Would Kiffin leave Ole Miss for LSU? Possibly! Despite what some Ole Miss fans may believe, the LSU job is the better gig. The Tigers have a richer history of success and more resources at their disposal. It (in theory) should be easier to win in Baton Rouge than in Oxford.

Kiffin’s name is a polarizing one, even if it shouldn’t be anymore. Some won’t be interested in having him as a head coach because of how things have ended when he left Tennessee and a perception that he isn’t a serious head coach, but he’s proven he can consistently win and has had opportunities to grow as a head coach since then.

It wouldn’t hurt to give Kiffin a call if the LSU job comes open sooner rather than later. If the Tigers don’t grab him, it seems likely that someone else might.
