LSU fans across the country are losing their minds after news broke on Sunday stating that the school and Ed Orgeron will be parting ways at the end of the season.
Massive news has just dropped in the college football world. According to Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger, LSU and Ed Orgeron will be no more after the 2021 season. Sources informed Dellenger on Sunday that the two sides have agreed to a ‘separation agreement’ and that Orgeron will close out the season with the team.
Still, less than two years after helping the Tigers go 15-0 and win the National Championship, the fact that Orgeron won’t be back next season is pretty wild.
#LSU and Ed Orgeron have reached a separation agreement: He will not return in 2022 but expected to complete this season, sources tell @SINow.

Negotiations began last week before UF win.
It’s unprecedented in the sport - coach & school divorcing 21 months after winning it all.
Coach O Fired: LSU Fans react to news of Ed Orgeron parting ways
The general feeling was that a coaching change needed to happen, despite the Tigers being two years removed from winning the National Championship.
With the good years so fresh in everyone’s memory, there are mixed feelings on the Bayou with news of the Ed Orgeron era coming to a close at season’s end:
That’s crazy talk. A Natty should guarantee a 5-year deal

Crazy how fast that developed after the 2019 national championship perfect season. Whether it's the playoff, revenue, fanbases, conference expansion, recruiting/NIL, or a combo of everything, the pressure to be perfect/win consistently has never been higher in college football...

Shows the win now mentality of big time college ball. Alumni with money and more power than should be allowed are ultimately in charge. All he’s done is win…and win again he will.

As much as this may be necessary, I will always appreciate what Coach O did for LSU and the State. He will be remembered for being the coach of the Greatest LSU team in history. I wish him nothing but the best.

He’s Gene Chizik all over again. Had a generationally quarterback and an amazing OC, which is what won him a National Championship, not because he’s some amazing coach.

He is a big time recruiter that needs a quality staff. After the title game he was dealt a big time blow staff wise. Never been the same since.

This has been coming for weeks. Inherited a championship roster and has been mediocre without it

Ed Orgeron record at LSU
Orgeron is 49-17 with LSU following the win over Florida this weekend. However, the team is 4-3 on the year, which simply isn’t acceptable for a powerhouse like LSU.
In 2019, led by Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase, LSU indeed went 15-0 and made easy work of Clemson in the National Championship Game. Orgeron was the hero for LSU supporters everywhere. He’ll always be remembered for that unforgettable season.
With that said, LSU really hasn’t been the same since winning it all. Orgeron and the Tigers are 9-8 since that title. Again, for them to have three losses already this season is something that has really infuriated countless people out there.
With the team struggling this year, many of those upset fans were calling for Orgeron to be replaced. Now, they’ve gotten their wish, as the coach won’t be back on the sidelines when the team opens the season next fall. Now, the pressure will be on the administration to find a suitable replacement to lead this team.
