Trade for Brandin Cooks

Speaking of the Texans, they have another strong trade candidate for the Broncos on their roster, wide receiver Brandin Cooks. Is wide receiver Denver’s biggest need? No. However, Cooks alongside Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy would give the Broncos one of the most dynamic wide receiver groups in the NFL.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Broncos do not have many elite players. Cooks would immediately change that.

At age 28, Cooks is averaging a career-high 80.2 receiving yards per game., which is astonishing given Houston’s quarterback situation. If the Texans are willing to move him, he would immediately give Denver’s offense a jumpstart.

Acquiring Cooks would also allow the front office to get a better evaluation of quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. Bridgewater was able to guide them to a 3-0 start, but the entire offense has struggled, at times, since then. Drew Lock would not raise the Broncos’ ceiling given the present roster construction.

If the Broncos want Bridgewater to succeed, they need to surround him with the right pieces. Cooks could be the best player available at the deadline. In the midst of his prime, he could be a great target for whoever Denver’s quarterback is over the next few years.
