2. Top fantasy football pickups for Week 7 – Washington Football Team RB J.D. McKissic

The only real injury situation to watch in the backfield this week comes in Washington, where Antonio Gibson was forced to leave the game against the Kansas City Chiefs with a nagging shin injury. The issue was something that Gibson was dealing with entering the week but it got to a point where he couldn’t suit up in the fourth quarter, leaving the Football Team’s backfield in the hands of J.D. McKissic.

Primarily known as a pass-catching back, McKissic racked up 16 touches in Washington’s loss to Kansas City, carrying 8 times for 45 yards while converting 8-of-9 targets into catches for another 65 yards. Game flow is certainly a hindrance for McKissic, whose role evaporates in games where Washington isn’t trailing, but the potential absence of Gibson could change that equation.

Jaret Patterson could steal some early-down work from McKissic if Gibson can’t play in Week 7 but McKissic’s upside in PPR leagues is still immense. Rostered in 42 percent of Yahoo leagues, McKissic also draws a solid matchup as the Football Team travels to Lambeau Field to take on the 5-1 Green Bay Packers.

The Packers figure to be up early on Washington, which will push the game script in McKissic’s favor with the Football Team having to play catchup. Teams in need of running back help in Week 7 should feel comfortable with McKissic as a plug-and-play RB2 in this matchup.
