Running Backs

Aaron Jones, Green Bay Packers vs. Washington Football Team-$8,500

Jones has only topped 100 yards on the ground once this season, and he has needed touchdowns to register much of a fantasy day. Losing touches to A.J. Dillon at times hasn’t been helpful either.  But in Week 7, things are lining up to be better.

The Washington defense has simply not been good this season–20th against the run, 32nd against the pass, 31st in total defense, 32nd in scoring defense. Specifically regarding running backs, they are allowing the ninth-most fantasy points to the position (23.6 per game; Yahoo! 0.5-point PPR) and tied for the most receiving touchdowns (6).

The Packers are a 9.5-point favorite on Sunday, which opens the door for Dillon getting a lot of work late in a one-sided game. But I still like Jones to get his against a bad Washington defense.

Darrel Williams, Kansas City Chiefs at Tennessee Titans-$6,700

So this is what it looks like when a Chiefs’ running back dominates touches in every area of the field. With Clyde Edwards-Helaire (knee) on IR, Williams had 21 carries for 62 yards and two touchdowns  (six red zone carries, along with three catches for 27 yards) in Week 6.

Week 7 against the Tennessee Titans is not an outstanding matchup, as they are the league’s 14th-ranked run defense overall and a top-half of the league fantasy defense against running backs.

But any piece of the pie in the game with the highest over-under on this week’s schedule is worth a long look on FanDuel. Williams is in line for 20-plus touches again as the Chiefs’ lead back, with requisite yardage and scoring opportunities.
