Trevor Story

Trevor Story is coming off his initial contract with the Colorado Rockies, giving the Yankees a chance to court him in free agency.

Since his 2016 MLB debut, Story has headlined the MLB record books, including a rookie record for hitting home runs in his first four games in 2016. Story led the NL in strikeouts in 2017, then led the MLB in power-speed number, extra base hits and the longest home run all season the following year.

Although the Rockies are looking to extend Story, the top-tier shortstop has his sights set on free agency. Story has said that “geography” matters to him greatly, as well as team culture and environment. ESPN’s Buster Olney mentioned this week that the Rangers, New York Yankees, Detroit Tigers, and Seattle Mariners are all potential landing spots for Story.

Corey Seager

Another shortstop still playing into October, Los Angeles Dodger Corey Seager hits the market whenever his extended season finally ends.

Seager was elected MVP when the Dodgers won the World Series in 2020, but Seager could be considering options as one of the top free agency commodities to hit the market this offseason.

“I’ve left that all for the offseason,” Seager said when the Los Angeles Times asked if he would stick around in Los Angeles.

Seager has spent his entire ten-year career with the Dodgers, meriting two All-Star appearances,  two Silver Sluggers and the NL Rookie of the Year award.

If recruited to New York, Seager could be the edge the Yankees need to dominate the AL East the way the Dodgers have the NL West.
