College football rankings 2021: Week 9 AP Top 25 projections after Ohio State, Alabama win; Oklahoma State, Penn State lose
8. Oregon Ducks
The Oregon Ducks needed a game-saving interception to hold off UCLA, but the win and teams in front of them losing will pay off. Oregon might jump into the eighth position and suddenly things aren’t looking so bad for a program that lost to Stanford.
The Pac-12 likely isn’t getting a playoff team unless unfounded chaos were to happen, but the Ducks working their way into the on the bubble graphic is basically the equivalent of a championship for the conference these days.
7. Michigan State Spartans
While some teams on the bye this week might lose a spot in the standings, where the Spartans are ranked will benefit them. Michigan State should jump a couple of spots thanks to Penn State and Oklahoma State losing.
With that, the Spartans should be in seventh and look at knocking on the door of the top five. Opportunity presents itself to Michigan State next weekend. A battle with Michigan is on tap and a win for the Spartans would likely move them up a spot if not into the top five.
