Caleb Williams got off to a slow start vs. Kansas but the Oklahoma football quarterback got an all-caps Tweet from Skip Bayless for his late-game heroics.

After trailing for much of the game vs. Kansas, Oklahoma survived the upset bid by the lowly Jayhawks in large part because of freshman quarterback Caleb Williams

Williams donned his Superman cape and brought the Sooners back to win 35-23 to stay undefeated and in the playoff race.

As you would expect, Oklahoma football superfan Skip Bayless was thrilled at the victory and expressed it quite emotionally.

In a tweet that’s since been deleted, Bayless said, “CALEB WILLIAMS JUST WENT SUPERMAN FOR A SECOND TIME IN THE FOURTH QUARTER, TAKING THE BALL FROM A KENNEDY BROOKS WHO WAS STOPPED FOR A FOURTH-DOWN LOSS AND RUNNING FOR A FIRST DOWN. THIS TRUE FRESHMAN IS A RARE, RARE PLAYMAKER.”

He’s not wrong. The Sooners looked dead in the water for so long. However, good teams find a way to come out of a slump, and Oklahoma did just that, which gives Williams more room to stand on.

Skip Bayless was excited about Caleb Williams’ performance for Oklahoma and the best may be yet to come

While Skip Bayless has every right to celebrate, let’s not get too excited just yet. It was Kansas, and if the Sooners had lost this game, they might never live it down.

But they didn’t, and they should be more relieved than excited, quite frankly, not because they won the game, but the fact that they have a young quarterback whose intangibles can help rescue the day when needed.

It’s still a long way to the college football playoffs. Should Oklahoma make it, they still have to overcome those demons of not winning a single time. Caleb Williams will have that as part of a test to see if he indeed is for real if he gets them there.

For now, the Crimson and Cream crew, along with Skip Bayless, should be thrilled that they got another victory, albeit barely. Is this a foreshadowing of what is to come in the future? Maybe, but all we can do is watch.
