2021 NFL power rankings, Week 8: Titans impress, Ravens stunned
Mike McCarthy’s team has won five straight games after that 31-29 Week 1 loss at Tampa. The Cowboys have already scored 205 points in six outings and quarterback Dak Prescott has thrown four times as many touchdown passes (16) as interceptions. Randy Gregory has four of the team’s 11 sacks. But second-year cornerback Trevon Diggs is off to an amazing start. He’s already intercepted seven passes, good for 142 yards and a pair of scores.
The Packers looked to extend their five-game winning streak when they welcomed the Washington Football Team to Lambeau Field. Green Bay’s defense had it issues and wound up allowing a disappointing 430 total yards by game’s end. Meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers threw for 274 yards and three touchdowns as the Green Bay ground attack managed only 57 yards. Defensive coordinator Joe Barry’s unit came up with four sacks and two takeaways.
Quarterback Matthew Stafford was the first overall pick in the 2009 draft and spent 12 seasons with the Detroit Lions. He was dealt to the Rams this offseason and would face his former employer on Sunday. And while Sean McVay’s team was on the ropes for most of the afternoon, the club still managed to play turnover-free football. Stafford threw for 334 yards and three scores and two of those touchdown strikes went to prolific Cooper Kupp.
