4. Top fantasy football pickups for Week 8 – Philadelphia Eagles RB Boston Scott

Injuries at running back create problems for some owners and opportunity for others. There were two key running back injuries in Las Vegas on Sunday as Josh Jacobs and Miles Sanders left the contest with injuries.

Jacobs is on bye next week so he has a shot to return for Week 9 but the Eagles don’t know yet how long Sanders will be out with an ankle injury. Dealing with an ankle issue can be very difficult for a running back, making this a situation to exploit if you have a need at running back.

Kenneth Gainwell has been a passing-down threat for the Eagles all year long but Boston Scott received most of the early-down work against the Raiders after Sanders went out. Scott didn’t do a ton with his seven carries, registering 24 yards on the day, but he did find the end zone.

If Sanders is out for an extended period Scott would presumably be the dominant portion of a timeshare with Gainwell. Rostered in just two percent of Yahoo leagues, Scott is worth a speculative pickup as fantasy owners are well aware of how dominant Scott can be if he receives regular playing time.
