3. College football conference rankings: Big 12

Oklahoma just keeps winning, but they never make it easy. They couldn’t even get an easy win against Kansas. However, a win is a win and the Sooners are holding onto a top-four spot in the rankings, which would be good enough to make the College Football Playoff. This, despite benching Spencer Rattler for Caleb Jones. Oklahoma State’s marquee win against Texas only made the loss to Iowa State hurt worse. They tumbled down the rankings, and they are where most thought they should be in the middle of the Top 25. Texas Tech fired Matt Wells after losing to Kansas State, its third loss of the season. The conference now has four ranked teams going into the final month of the regular season. Who will join Oklahoma in the Big 12 title game?

2. College football conference rankings: Big Ten

It’s been a bad few weeks for the Big Ten. After looking amazing after the slobber knocker that was the Penn State-Iowa game, things have fallen off the rails for both teams. Iowa is hanging on to its top-ten rankings, but the Nittany Lions have tumbled all the way to 20th. Still, Ohio State, Michigan, and Michigan State are all in the top ten. The Wolverines and Spartans are still waiting to play great teams to really test their undefeated records, but both have won every game. That’s worth something. Could either make a surprise move into the College Football Playoff top four when the rankings come out next Tuesday? That might change the Big Ten’s place on these rankings.

1. College football conference rankings: SEC

Pitting the SEC against the Big Ten is asking whether depth is better than top-line talent. The SEC currently has two teams in the top four while the Big Ten has zero. However, the Big Ten has four teams in the top ten. The SEC eeks out in the rankings because of their possibilities to win it all. Georgia is the best team in the country, and it’s not really close. Who is going to stop them? Ole Miss made a statement against an LSU team in turmoil with a dead man walking as its head coach. Now, they are also in the top ten. The SEC is back in front, but if one of those top 10 teams lose, it could change everything. This week, we see the famous Florida-Georgia matchup. Will it be another blowout?
