José Siri helped the Houston Astros score another run in Game 2 of the 2021 World Series.

The Houston Astros were able extend their lead over the Atlanta Braves during Game 2 of the World Series thanks to some bizarre base running which involved a brilliant heads up play from José Siri.

Siri initially got on base in the bottom of the second inning thanks to an infield single to second base which moved Yuli Gurriel to second and then brought Kyle Tucker across home plate, putting Houston up 2-1.

But he wasn’t done there.

Siri then got an opportunity to score after an ill-advised throwing mishap. It started as Martín Maldonado hit a simple single to shallow left field. An error on a throw from Braves left fielder Eddie Rosario enabled Siri to then follow Gurriel home, giving the Astros a 4-1 lead over Atlanta.

Houston tacked on another run after that to go up 5-1.

The Astros needed this sort of brilliant play to be able to build a decent lead and get some momentum back. The weird scoring fest that Siri was involved in came after the Braves smashed a home run into the Crawford Boxes to tie things up at 1-1.

With the fact that the Astros trail in this series, winning Game 2 is important for them to be able to go out and win this World Series.

Of course, there’s still a lot of game left in this particular contest, and there’s plenty of games left in the series, but Houston scoring in a bizarre way has to make Astros fans feel better about the solid 6-2 Braves win from Game 1.
