The Giants will settle for field goals

Part of Kansas City’s problem on defense is an inability to stop teams from converting in the red zone. They rank 29th in the NFL this season in red zone touchdowns allowed with teams converting 73.1 percent of the time.

On the plus side, the Giants have the opposite problem. They have managed to score touchdowns in the red zone 45 percent of the time, putting them dead last in the standings. They are tied for the league lead in field goal attempts.

When you’re a struggling defense, going up against an offense with a habit of shooting themselves in the foot can be a gift. That’s what New York is.

The Chiefs may have an issue getting the Giants off the field. Kansas City ranks 30th with teams converting 48.7 percent of third downs after all. However, they’ll do just enough to force the visitors to settle for field goals and that’ll be the difference in the game.
