College football power rankings: 5 best games of the Week 9 schedule
By John Buhler
3. Games of the week: No. 20 Penn State Nittany Lions (5-2) at No. 5 Ohio State Buckeyes (6-1)
Admittedly, this game has lost a bit of its luster with Penn State falling to unranked Illinois in nine overtimes last week. However, this game between the Nittany Lions and the Buckeyes will go a long way towards who ends up winning the Big Ten East. Ohio State is favored at home, but James Franklin’s team always plays them tough. The Buckeyes must win if they have playoff aspirations.
2. Games of the week: No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs (7-0) vs. Florida Gators (4-3) (Jacksonville, FL)
As with the game going on in Columbus, the Cocktail Party down in Jacksonville is dinged a bit this year because Florida already has three conferences losses before Halloween. However, this is a game Florida and Georgia fans know that anything and everything can happen in. With national title aspirations and an undefeated season on the line, Georgia hopes to stave off heartbreak.
1. Games of the week: No. 6 Michigan Wolverines (7-0) at No. 8 Michigan State Spartans (7-0)
Little brother vs. big brother. That doesn’t really matter here. What does is the Michigan Wolverines and the Michigan State Spartans are both 7-0 and situated inside of the top 10 entering Week 9. Whoever wins among these rival schools in East Lansing is a serious threat to make the College Football Playoff. Of course, they still have to play Penn State and Ohio State.
Be sure to plan accordingly so that you can watch as much good college football as possible.
